The award winning film JUSTICE
Made by civil rights lawyers, JUSTICE stars Roger Guenveur Smith
as an ambitious lawyer out to change a corrupt legal system.
JUSTICE was inspired by the real-life experiences of civil
rights lawyers, including writer/director/producer Jeanne-Marie
Almonor. Ms. Almonor grew up in inner-city Brooklyn, went to
Harvard Law School, and joined a corporate law firm in
Minneapolis. After a few years, she left the firm to start a
civil rights law practice with her husband and fellow Harvard
Law grad, John Shulman. For more than a decade, the couple has
fought on the front lines in the battle for social and economic
justice. Ms. Almonor and Mr. Shulman made JUSTICE to expose the
truth about the American criminal justice system, where racial
disparities in arrest rates, charges, convictions and
incarceration have put 1 in 10 African-American men aged 25-29
in prison (compared to 1 in 100 white men).
